Join Page 158 Books and author Ash Nouveau for a four week course aimed to help teens jump into creative writing. This class is for those who want to learn more about the craft of writing by doing, and connect with other teens for peer critique. We'll be writing short stories, and flash fiction. We will explore weekly prompts, and have discussions on genre, character, voice and setting to help students get their hands dirty making stuff up! There will be no pressure to share your work if you’re uncomfortable doing so, even with me. Get answers to your burning questions about writing, and develop a feel for storytelling this summer. This will be a digital workshop that takes place over four weeks. The cost is $25 for the entire workshop and can be purchased on our website here. Participants will be emailed an event link prior to the first meeting.
Class Goals
Introduce (or maybe reintroduce) teens to creative writing. Fiction will be our focus but if a prompt drives you to write poetry, a personal essay, song lyrics, or anything, try it out! I aim to facilitate a love of writing and storytelling that can enrich your life or be an outlet for stress. The world always needs new voices.
About Ash
I’m Ash Nouveau (they/them), and I’ve been making up stories even longer than I’ve been writing! I grew up in Oregon, where I went to school, and I’ve lived in Seattle, but now reside in Wake Forest with my spouse and our animals. I write for teens because I wish I’d had the stories I'm writing now back when I was in high school.
