Author Event: Carol Henderson and Kristen Rademacher
Page 158 Books welcomes Carol Henderson, author of LOSING MALCOM and FARTHER ALONG, and Kristen Rademacher, author of FROM THE LAKE HOUSE, for a virtual discussion on writing about and grieving baby loss. This event will be hosted on our Crowdcast channel. You can RSVP and attend here.
Kristen Rademacher’s debut memoir was recently published and explores the echoes of rash decisions and ill-fated relationships, the barren and disorienting days an aching mother faces without her baby, and the mysterious healing that can take root while rebuilding a life gutted from loss.
Carol has published widely, leads writing workshops in the States, Europe and Middle East, and works with mothers who have lost children of all ages. Losing Malcolm is a frank and compelling narrative about a naive mother whose carefully constructed life unravels when her infant son dies. Her second book, Farther Along, is the spellbinding story of how her one-day writing workshop for bereaved mothers turned into an ongoing journey of self-discovery and healing for 13 women who had lost children.
On a lark, Kristen joined one of Carol’s early writing groups in 2005, shortly after losing her baby. The writing process was therapeutic, and Kristen soon found herself drafting essays about her loss. As a writer familiar with the topic of grief and with her strength as a group facilitator, Carol supported Kristen’s journey to write her own memoir.
Writing was a key tool Carol and Kristen both used when finding their way through their grief. Not only did it give them a place to voice their initial, raw emotions, but it also paved the way for healing. Join this inspirational and candid conversation.
