Six Sundays concert series expands times, offerings
Award-winning jazz musician Marcus Anderson will take the stage at the April 29th season opener of this year’s Six Sundays in Spring concert series in Wake Forest. The most talked about performer in Six Sunday’s history, Anderson wowed last year’s crowd with his talent on the saxophone as well as his energetic performance.
Wake Forest ARTS, the nonprofit which organizes the free events, has also made several other exciting changes to this year’s series. Six Sundays in Spring will take place each Sunday from April 29 through June 3 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at E. Carroll Joyner Park, 701 Harris Road, Wake Forest. The expanded time will allow for a local band of a similar genre to be featured as the opener before the headlining group.
This year’s performance series line up is:
April 29 — Jazz musician Marcus Anderson performs after the gospel group Millennium Revival Center Praise team.
May 6 — Wake Forest rock group Will McBride Group shows off its pop, jazz and rock talents.
May 13 — Reggae band Healing Force performs after the drum circle Phatbread.
May 20 — Folk Country singer Angela Easterling performs after indy musician Arielle Bryant.
May 27 — Teen star Lakota John performs blues infused with his Native American heritage.
June 3 — The town of Wake Forest and PineCone Entertainment sponsors the bluegrass band Gravy Boys.
In addition to a full afternoon of live music, attendees will also be able to see other talents the area offers. This year, artists have been invited to share their wares at an Artist Market. Artwork, CDs from the bands and refreshments will be available for purchase.
Food and refreshments are welcome, but will also be available for purchase. No alcohol is allowed on the property, including in the parking lot. Parking is in the designated parking lot unless otherwise directed. There will be no parking on the grass unless directed.
Wake Forest ARTS is dedicated to developing, promoting and coordinating cultural opportunities for everyone. While all concerts are free of charge, donations are encouraged.
