Author Event: John Sean Doyle
Through essays and stories on the poetry and science of living, Mud and Dreams is an argument for the goodness of people, the beauty all around us and our reasons for hope. It calls us to embrace all the noise and confusion of our lives, everything that is unjust and unfair, and find the meaning, gratefulness and cause for celebration. Intimate. Sublime. Mud and Dreams is about falling more deeply in love with life.
A work of “literary self-help” or “motivational poetics”, Mud and Dreams is informed by the science of positive psychology but, suckled on poetry. It is an invitation to embrace.
John “Sean” Doyle is a poet and lawyer and taught positive psychology at North Carolina State University for close to a decade. Whether writing about work or parenting, home or hardship, Sean’s essays are invitations to inject more hope, affection and meaning into the world. They are about recovering a reverence for being and creating a culture of kindness.
Sean studied philosophy at Rutgers, received his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University New Orleans, and his Masters of Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. A husband and father of three, Sean lives and writes in Raleigh, North Carolina. For more about Sean, please see: www.johnseandoyle.com.
