Fight Against Cancer
Help is needed in the fight against cancer across northern Wake County. The American Cancer Society is recruiting teams from businesses, schools, families, places of worship, neighborhoods and more to participate in Relay For Life, coming up May 16 at Heritage High School. Relay teams raise funds to support the American Cancer Society?s lifesaving mission. Relay is a community-based event where teams members set up campsites and take turns walking in honor of those who've battled cancer. Each team has at least one member on the track at all times, and cancer survivors and caregivers take a celebratory first lap. ?Relay unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all,? said Coward. ?Many participants are your family, friends and neighbors who have faced cancer themselves. Each new team that registers brings us one step closer to saving more lives.? Upcoming Relay events: Sunday, April 12 ? Dine For A Cure at Texas Roadhouse, 11140 Capital Blvd., Wake Forest, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; part of proceeds go to Relay (email skuhns@wcpss.net to receive the required flier).
